   Idaho 4-H Wool Contest   

  2009 Wool Contest Results           2009 Wool Contest Brochure

The Promotion Division of the Idaho Wool Growers offers awards to Idaho 4-H members who make garments from wool fabric or yarn at the Basic and Advanced levels.

Contestants will participate in judging at the county level on construction and fit (style revue or interview) and at the state level on construction and their Wool Contest Portfolio.

    Participant Requirements:

  • Basic Level -participants must be age 12-16 years of age as of January 1 of the year they will compete.
  • Advanced Level -participants must be at least 14 and not have reached their 19th birthday by January 1 of the year they compete.
  • Participants must be enrolled in a 4-H project:
    • must construct or make a garment using a minimum 60% wool blend fabric or yarn
    • receive a blue ribbon in construction and fit-interview or style revue at the county level.

State juding will take place October in the Northern District.  District and State winners will be announced and displayed at the 2010 Idaho and Washington 4-H Leaders' Forum in Spokane, Oct. 15, 2010.

Click for a copy of the Wool Contest Brochure and entry request form.  Brochures and entry forms are also available from your county office , and must be submitted to the District Contact in your District.  Garments are due October 1.

Enter your garment/outfit for judging at the county level.  County Extension Offices will notify the District Contacts of the names of those individuals who have qualified to enter the State Contest.   The District Contact will send you the "Idaho Wool Contest Guidelines and Portfolio/Entry Packet" or it may be downloaded here.  The Portfolio/Entry Packet must accompany the garment when submitted for state judging.

    Basic Level Awards:

  • District Level: The first place winner in each district will receive a $25 award
     
  • State Level: The first place over-all winner will receive an additional $100 award
  • Advanced Level Awards:

  • District Level:  The top scoring entry from each District will receive a $100 award

  • State Level:
    • 1st place: $600
    • 2nd place: $300
    • 3rd place: $150
